CNC turning

to achieve perfect shapes

Precision turning is the first fundamental step in manufacturing our gold watch cases. Our latest-generation CNC lathes are specially configured for case machining, with tooling and parameters optimised for gold.

This specialisation enables us to machine cases from 28 mm to 60 mm with centimetre precision, maintaining tolerance levels that are tighter than industry standards.

The machining of round cases requires particular care in curved and tapered profiles, especially in vintage models. Proprietary techniques developed in-house allow for precise threads between the case and the back, as well as millimetric grooves for gaskets and sealing components.

Milling

to produce complex watch cases

Precision milling enables us to produce complex and innovative watch case designs. Our 5-axis machining centres are optimised for the production of square watch cases with sharp edges, perfectly planar hexagonal cases, and customised geometries, including organic curved forms.

One of our specialities is the machining of integrated lugs, allowing the entire watch case to be produced from a single piece. We use diamond tooling to achieve flawless finishes on gold, while our cutting-edge CAM system enables highly optimised programming for each individual project.

In-process control ensures continuous dimensional compliance during every stage of gold machining.

Brushing

to achieve exclusive finishes

Brushing is the final step before assembly, and it is the finish that will change the appearance of the case.

Polished brushing, used on the majority of our cases, gives the finished product a refined, luminous appearance. For sports cases, we apply a linear satin finish that enhances resistance to scratches and wear, while maintaining a modern and elegant aesthetic.

Technological innovation and production vision

At Bovo Luigi S.r.l., innovation and tradition coexist within a completely in-house production cycle, from gold melting and casting to final finishing. Each alloy is melted and cast on-site to ensure purity, strength, and compatibility with the most complex goldsmithing processes.

Alongside manual craftsmanship and latest generation CAD/CAM systems, the company is exploring new technologies such as metal 3D printing, which helps reduce waste and accelerate prototyping. Artificial intelligence also plays a central role in the future vision, with ongoing studies on its application to optimise technical files, tolerances, and production cycles.
